What to expect

Strength, calm, connection — and a bit of pleasure along the way This supportive, lively menopause yoga class is designed for women 40+ navigating perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause — a phase of life that can last 10–15 years or more and bring changes to energy, mood, sleep, stress levels, and how the body feels day to day. Blending movement, breath, strength work, and rest, this class supports both physical health and emotional wellbeing. Each week offers something a little different — from gentle, grounding practices to more energising, strength-building sequences — helping you feel more balanced, capable, and at ease in your changing body. Emma is a qualified menopause yoga teacher and brings a thoughtful, informed approach alongside her trademark quirky sense of humour. This is not a solemn or overly serious yoga class — it’s intelligent, supportive, and very human. A key focus of this class is nervous system regulation. Hormonal changes during menopause can heighten the stress response, often leading to raised levels of cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone. Through carefully paced yoga movement, conscious breath, and a balance of effort and rest, this class helps the nervous system settle and recover. Over time, many women notice: Improved mood and emotional steadiness Better sleep Reduced anxiety and overwhelm A greater sense of calm and resilience As stress softens, it often becomes easier to feel like yourself again — clearer, steadier, and more supported. Strength, heart health, and feeling capable Strength work is an important part of this menopause yoga class, approached in a way that feels accessible and supportive. Building and maintaining muscle through midlife supports bone density, joint health, balance, and heart health, while also helping you feel confident and capable in everyday life. You’ll be invited to use light hand weights (1–3kg) — or, very happily, tins of beans. The emphasis is on strength with ease, not pushing or proving. Expect: Gentle flows and grounding movement Strength work using bodyweight or light weights Breath practices to calm the nervous system Stretching and release to ease tension All movements are offered with options, making this class suitable for all levels, including those new to yoga. As with all of Emma’s yoga classes, expect clear guidance, encouragement and often laughter. Bring a mat, hand weights and a sense of humour and you just as you are. Booking is essential.
